Hello and welcome to Babyscapes. I’m Neil and along with my wife, Micaela, we run Babyscapes.
As a child I was forever using my parents compact camera… film of course. This is back when we had to wait to see what we had captured and the excitement of waiting for pictures to come back from the printers had me hooked! That was the start of my love of photography. Since completing my BA (Hons) in Art and Photography in 2000, I have worked across the country, as a photographer and retoucher for a leading family portrait studio in the West Midlands and then as a consultant and manager for two studios in London. I’ve also enjoyed passing on knowledge to aspiring photographers as a tutor on several adult learning courses for Croydon Council.
Micaela was born and raised in Rome, where her interest for fine arts and photography started; this led her to study both subjects in college. After moving to the UK, photography remained a hobby while she studied for her degree and gained a teaching qualification. In recent years she successfully combined her love of photography and music by working as a freelance music photographer.
After meeting over our mutual love of photography, we started working together as wedding and family photographers but now concentrate on capturing beautiful images of newborns. Because of health concerns, this is something we missed with our daughter and regret every day. It is all too easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of having a new addition to the family, the emotions, the worry and the enjoyment.
We now dedicate our time to making sure others have artwork that helps keep those emotions alive and fresh as their children grow up.
